What Are The Injections Needed Prior To Visiting Vietnam
August 20, 2009 – 9:02 am | No Comment

vietnam-injectionsFor someone visiting Vietnam from another country, it is advised that they take the proper precautions in order to protect themselves from foreign diseases. These precautions include having a full physical by your physician, making sure that you only travel while you are well, and most importantly – making sure that you have the recommended vaccines.

There is a variety of vaccines that has been recommended by the Center of Disease Control, especially for a person that will be visiting Vietnam. These vaccines or also known as injections include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Japanese Encephalitis, Typhoid, Polio, Tetanus/Diptheria, MMR (which is also known as Mumps, Measles, Rubella), Rabies, Yellow Fever, and Malaria.

Most of these vaccines are given under normal circumstances regardless of visiting a foreign country like Vietnam, so it is important that the person checks with their physician to see which vaccines they need to receive. It is also important to make sure that all of the vaccines that has been given at a previous time is up to date, since some vaccines must be renewed within a certain time period (such as the tetanus vaccine which must be given every 10 years).

When a person is planning their trip to Vietnam, they should schedule an appointment with their physician approximately 4 to 6 weeks prior to departure. This will allow the physician the opportunity to administer the vaccines and will allow enough time for the vaccine to become active in the person’s system.

At the time the vaccines are administered, the physician will likely do a full physical (or also known as a full checkup) to rule out any health issues that may interfere with your travel plans to Vietnam.

In conclusion, there is a variety of vaccines or injections that a person must have before visiting Vietnam. Although these vaccines are just recommended and currently not a requirement, it is very important that a person consider taking the time to have these administered. Vietnam is a beautiful place but in order to enjoy the full magnitude of the country, a person must put their health as their first priority.
